Meghan Slaalien MSW, is the owner and operator of Meghan Slaalien, LLC, doing business as A Peaceful Balance Clinical Consultation & Counseling Services located in Nashua, NH.

Meghan received her Bachelor’s degree in Counseling with a minor in Psychology from Lesley University in 2011, where she was her class Salutatorian, and her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Simmons University School of Social Work in 2013. She also received an Associate’s degree in Dance from Dean College in 2009. Meghan is a current candidate for licensure in the state of New Hampshire, which requires her to be supervised by a New Hampshire registered supervisor until obtaining her license in the Fall of 2021. Meghan is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

Meghan’s experience includes 5 years working as an intern and volunteer at The Children’s Room non-profit agency providing caring support to grieving children, teens and families. Meghan assisted in running multiple support groups within the agency, helped facilitate trainings, and assisted with grief support groups at a local high school. Loss, grief, and bereavement support continues to be a passion of Meghan’s in her current practice. She also has experience working as an individual and group therapist in a prevention and recovery outpatient program supporting young adults experiencing the initial symptoms and first episodes of major mental illnesses including Schizophrenia, Bipolar, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Additionally, she has multiple years of experience working in residential care providing therapy and advocacy for children and families while working collaboratively with GALs, CASAs and DCYF, and more recently as a child and family therapist in the community mental health care setting.

At the heart of Meghan’s approach is her appreciation for the uniqueness and strengths of each individual and family that she works with. Meghan believes she can assist individuals and families with the education, experience, and tools she has learned over the years, but that her clients are the experts of their lived experiences, and it is her responsibility to simultaneously learn from each person she meets while integrating the appropriate therapeutic approach based on the individual’s unique needs and strengths. To assist with this mission Meghan pulls from multiple therapeutic approaches including Rogerian, Narrative Therapy, Holistic Psychology, Expressive Arts Therapy, Play Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Due to being in the process of becoming a licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Meghan is unable to accept insurance as a method of payment and only accepts self-pay at this time.
