Cara Hoffmann Garso, Psy.D., is the owner and operator of Cara Hoffmann Garso, PLLC, doing business as A Peaceful Balance Clinical Consultation & Counseling Services located in Nashua, NH. Dr. Hoffmann Garso is a licensed psychologist in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. She completed her B.A. in Psychology at the University of Vermont and earned her Master’s and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology of Alliant International University in San Francisco. Dr. Hoffmann Garso’s clinical training includes several graduate level practicum experiences, her Predoctoral Internship at the Consortium of the Clifford Beers Clinic and the Posttraumatic Stress Center in New Haven, Ct, and her Postdoctoral Internship at Stoney Brook Counseling Center in Chelmsford, Ma. In addition, Dr. Hoffmann Garso has provided therapy to children, adolescents, families, and adults as a staff therapist in various outpatient and home-based settings.

Dr. Hoffmann Garso specializes in individual therapy, family therapy, and parent consultation for children and adolescents. Dr. Hoffmann Garso also works with younger adults. Although Dr. Hoffmann Garso has a special interest in the treatment of trauma-related difficulties, she welcomes referrals for a wide range of presenting problems and concerns, including (but not limited to), adjustment issues, depression, anxiety, social skills impairment, parent-child relationship problems, anger issues, oppositional behavior, aggression, and family relationship problems. Other clinical interests include foster care/adoption issues, early childhood mental health, and difficulties with attachment/bonding.

Dr. Hoffmann Garso employs a warm, supportive, individualized, and strengths-based approach to her work with clients. She is dedicated to helping clients find “what works” to achieve and maintain their goals, and believes that her clients are capable and resilient.
